Coygo Update 4-5-2019 Data Security Improvements

It’s time for another development update for the Coygo application! This update focuses on improvements for data visualization and security.

If this is your first time hearing about Coygo, it’s a downloadable desktop application for Windows, Mac and Linux that allows cryptocurrency traders to connect all of their exchange accounts to have a single, secure interface to track account balances, submit trades, execute transfers between accounts, and lots more. Unlike most other solutions, your API credentials are **only **stored securely on your machine, we never have access to your funds or accounts. All trades and transfers are submitted directly from your machine, our servers never touch your accounts or account credentials.

Portfolio Overview visualization

The “Balance Overview” section has been renamed to “Portfolio Section” and now contains two pie charts to help visualize your holdings at a glance. The chart on the left shows total balances per asset aggregated across all of your connected exchanges, sorted by their USD value. The chart on the right shows your total balance on each exchange, again sorted by their USD value.

View free and used balances separately

Previously we only displayed the free funds in your exchange accounts. We now display both free and used funds, such as funds that are locked up in an open order, separately so that you can easily see how much actual buying power you have. You can also now use the drop down input on the top left to view a single exchange at a time, or “All” to view all exchanges in one list.

Market overview treemap

On the Market Data screen we have now included a treemap (powered by CoinGecko) to provide a quick high-level overview of what digital assets are up or down for the current day. This can help traders find buying or selling opportunities due to price movements.

Redesigned Exchange Market Scanner

The Exchange Market Scanner has been redesigned for a better user experience. You can now use a drop down to select an individual exchange as well as a specific quote asset. This redesign removes a lot of clutter and helps our users drill down to the exact data they want to view while assessing the markets available to them.

Security improvements

API key changes

This update also includes a number of improvements to our users’ security. When a user is connecting an exchange account by entering an API key we now default to masking the key that you have entered unless you choose to show it, so that someone else can be looking at your screen and still not see your credentials. We also now require our users to re-enter their Coygo account password when changing API keys, to prevent a malicious actor from replacing your API keys with their own while you walk away from your computer and transferring funds from your accounts to their own.

Automatically log out inactive users

There is always a risk that a user walks away from their computer without first logging out of the Coygo application, and then a malicious actor could use their computer to place a sell order on an obscure or low-volume market that they have an open buy order on, allowing them to fill their own order and steal your funds. Or perhaps a malicious actor doesn’t intend to steal your money, but just sell all of your funds at below-market prices to empty your wallets. To avoid this, we now automatically log any user out on all devices when they have been inactive for 10 minutes, where inactive is defined as having not pressed a key or moved their mouse. It it still recommended that you log out any time you are not actively using the Coygo application.

Thanks for catching up

Thanks for keeping up with Coygo’s development! We will continue to share our progress as we gather feedback from our users and improve the application to provide the absolute best experience for digital assets traders with accounts on multiple exchanges.

As usual, we welcome you to sign up to participate in our free beta at coygo.app if you live in the United States. Your feedback is very valuable to us!
